How To Throw A Potty Party
A Potty Party is a great way to kick off potty training. Who doesn’t love a party? You can make it a big party with friends, maybe a playgroup party if you are all starting to potty train at the same time or make it just you and your child, they love that individual attention. For your own party here are the basics:
1. Talk it up all week. Be really excited about it! Even if your child is not too excited about potty training, if you are excited it’s contagious.
2. Wrap gifts for your child to open first thing that day. Some good gift ideas are:
*Potty Chair
*Big Kid Underwear
*Flushable Wipes
*Special Soap
*Bubbles To Blow While Sitting On The Potty
*Potty Train DVD
*Potty Train Book
*Doll to Demonstrate Potty Time
*Special Toy For Potty Time Only
3. Make a cake, cupcakes or ice cream sundaes… it’s just not a party without cake.
4. Get a few balloons and small decorations to make it look like a party.
5. A good decoration is underwear on you head for party hats…. really. Just send me a picture 
6. Watch their new Potty Train DVD, read the book and stay excited about little Johnny becoming a big boy and using the potty.
7. Take him with you every time you go to the bathroom. Let him choose to either sit on the potty himself or have his new doll (stuffed animal) sit on the potty.
8. Keep him in underwear, clean up accidents quickly and quietly with “Oops! Let’s try to make it to the potty next time!” And continue on with the party.
9. Craft Time – Make a Rewards Chart With Your Child. *Or buy one and have them help you put it up.
Have it made up for one week. If you make anew one each week it helps keep it fun for your child.
Have a place for them to put a sticker on the chart every time they tell Mommy they need to go potty, pee, poop and wash their hands.
Have a special prize for no accidents in a day and a larger prize for no accidents in a week.
Kids need constant positive reinforcement and excitement to keep them involved.
These parties are lots of fun and a great way to get kids excited about potty training.
