Buying Infant Clothing Complicated By Choices

When it comes to infant clothes there is no lack of originality or attempts at humor. Many people find themselves in a dilemma of how much and what size to get. There are styles from multiple outlets that meet everyone’s sense of humor, sense of style and their sense of budget. The one thing most people keep in mind when purchasing infant clothing is the fact that the child probably will not wear it too long.

From the moment a child is born until it reaches maturity, there are constant and unpredictable periods of growth. These growth spurts can make it troublesome to determine what size the baby will be wearing from one week to the next and, even if there is a major sale on baby clothing, many Mom’s and Dad’s are afraid to get too many clothes as the baby may outgrow many of them before they have the chance to wear them.

Getting baby clothing as gifts for someone’s infant can be equally as difficult, as the child can grow dramatically in a few short weeks and an outfit that might be the accurate size the day it is bought may be too small when they receive the present. For the most part it is better to purchase infant clothing that is larger than needed, giving the infant an opportunity to grow into it instead of having a a lot of clothing they cannot wear.

Shopping For Sizes Can Be Confusing

Complicating the process of buying baby clothing even more than the growth spurts are the designers who apparently do not follow any strict guidelines on how their clothing is sized. A child who fits perfectly in a toddler size four from one manufacturer but a size four from a different manufacturer can either be too big or too small.

Most designers also bewilder those who do not have children, with their sizes of baby clothing by marking it for months, or in rare cases by the infant’s weight. Infant clothing is generally sized by months indicating an outfit will fit an infant. For example, from zero to three months or three to six months of age. Many Mom’s and Dad’s learn early that the age of the child is rarely a proper indication of the size of their babies clothing.

Most people will stick to discounted store when it comes to purchasing baby clothing, knowing that the infant will likely grow out of it after one or two times of wearing it. Purchasing expensive designer infant clothing may make the parents feel proud when they take their baby to visit relatives, but the need for frequent replacement may soon give way to common sense.
